Laser Spider Veins Treatment Q&A

How Does Laser Vein Treatment Work?

A laser is used to deliver pulses of light energy into your vein vessels, which causes the blood within the vein to coagulate, eventually breaking up the vessel and allowing it to be reabsorbed back into your body. This allows blood flow to be redirected to deeper veins below the skins surface. Although no compression stockings are needed after laser treatment, there is slight period of healing time where you will need to protect your veins from sun, heat and high impact exercise.

How Many Treatments Will I Need?

For laser vein removal, we recommend a series of 3-6 treatments for most patients, although small vascular lesions such as cherry angioma’s usually disappear after just one treatment. Your results can be apparent as soon as 2 weeks up to 6 weeks after treatment.

Are There Any Side Effects With Laser Spider Vein Treatment?

Bruising is the most common side effect with vein treatments. Bruising can be minimized and prevented by discontinuing blood thinners such as aspirin or ibuprofen, fish oil, vitamin E, and St. John’s wort for a few days prior to treatment.
